Holdener Gartenbau GmbH Privacy Policy

Protecting your privacy is important to us. We are committed to handling your data transparently. Below, we explain what personal data is stored when you use this website and how it is handled. We also explain how to opt out of third-party services we use.

Holdener Gartenbau GmbH Respects Your Privacy

Protecting your privacy when processing personal data, as well as safeguarding all business data, is important to us and is taken into account in our business processes. We treat the personal data collected when you visit our online services confidentially and process it only in accordance with applicable laws.

Purpose of the Website

The website provides general information about Holdener Gartenbau GmbH, its products and services, and career opportunities.

General Information on the Collection, Processing, and Use of Personal Data

Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses that can be used to identify a person.

We collect, process, and use personal data (including IP addresses) only when necessary to fulfill a contract, take steps before entering into a contract, or protect our legitimate interests.

  • Contact information, such as name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and date of birth
  • Communications data, such as your IP address, the MAC addresses of the devices you use, such as a smartphone or computer, and device and settings information
  • Purchase history data, such as purchase dates and information about products purchased
  • Other personal data, such as credit card details, bank account information, and employment history

Log Files

Whenever you use the internet, your internet browser automatically transmits certain information, which we store in what are known as log files.

We store log files for as long as necessary to identify disruptions and for security purposes (for example, to investigate attempted attacks). After that, they are deleted or anonymized. Log files that must be retained as evidence are exempt from deletion until the relevant incident has been fully resolved and may, in individual cases, be shared with law enforcement authorities. Storing log files serves our legitimate interests in ensuring that our website operates smoothly and correctly.

Log files contain, in particular, the following information:

  • IP address (Internet Protocol address) of the device used to access the online service;
  • Internet address of the website from which the online service was accessed (known as the source URL or referrer URL);
  • Name of the service provider used to access the online service;
  • Name of the files or information accessed;
  • Date, time, and duration of access;
  • Amount of data transferred;
  • Operating system and information about the internet browser used, including installed add-ons (for example, a password manager);
  • HTTP status code (for example, “Request successful” or “Requested file not found”)

User Analytics

Analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) are used on the Holdener Gartenbau GmbH website. The information collected about website usage is stored on the tool providers’ servers and is also combined in Snowflake with data from the ERP and POS systems for analysis purposes.

Analytics tools allow us to collect and analyze data about how website visitors use our website. This lets us find out when pages were viewed and from which regions.

Other data collected may include, for example, the names of files accessed, the browsers used, the features used, or the amount of time spent on the website.

Holdener Gartenbau GmbH has a legitimate interest in the anonymized analysis of user behavior in order to optimize both its website and its advertising. If your prior consent was requested when you visited our website (e.g., consent to the storage of cookies), the data is processed on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time with future effect.

Detailed information about the analytics tools we use can be found in our

Data Sharing

As a general rule, we only transfer your personal data to other controllers when this is necessary to fulfill a contract, when we or the third party have an overriding legitimate interest in the transfer, or when you have given your consent.

In addition, data may be transferred to other controllers if we are required to do so by law or by an enforceable order issued by a government authority or court.

Service Providers

We engage external service providers to perform tasks such as marketing services, development operations, data hosting, shipping, and debugging. We carefully select these providers and regularly monitor them, particularly to ensure they handle and protect the data stored with them appropriately. We require all service providers to maintain confidentiality and comply with legal requirements.

Transfers to Recipients Outside the EEA

We may also transfer personal data to recipients based outside the EEA, in so-called third countries. Before transferring data, we ensure that the recipient has an adequate level of data protection through appropriate contractual agreements or, if necessary, that you have consented to the transfer.

Data Storage Details: Storage Locations and Retention Periods

Your data is primarily stored in Switzerland and Germany. Because we use various service providers, data is also stored in other EU countries and in the United States.

As a general rule, we store your data for as long as necessary to provide our services and related offerings, or for as long as we have a legitimate interest in retaining it (for example, even after a contract has been fulfilled, we may have a legitimate interest in postal marketing). We then delete your personal data, except for data that we must continue to store to fulfill legal obligations (for example, tax and commercial record-retention requirements may require us to retain documents such as contracts and invoices for a certain period).

Marketing Tools

We use various tools for marketing activities. When these tools are used, your browser may connect directly to the servers of the relevant tools. This allows the provider to learn that your browser has accessed the corresponding page on our website. Log files, similar to those described in section 5, are also transmitted to the providers’ servers and may be stored there. The provider or its server may be located outside Switzerland, the EU, or the EEA (e.g., in the United States).

Data is exchanged via third-party cookies.

For more information about the purpose and scope of data collection, further processing, and use of the data, see our and the respective terms and conditions and privacy notices.

We take all necessary technical and organizational measures to ensure an appropriate level of protection and, in particular, to protect the data we manage from the risks of accidental or unlawful destruction, manipulation, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or unauthorized access.
