As an architect, environmental designer, biologist, and historic preservationist, Eduard Neuenschwander (1924–2013) consistently worked beyond the boundaries of his fields. His extensive body of work reflects a holistic approach that innovatively brings architecture, nature, and history together.
This book explores around 20 exemplary buildings and outdoor spaces from his work. It traces his career, from his early fascination with nature to the formative influence of his mentors, Sigfried Giedion and Alvar Aalto. It also examines his visionary projects, including the planned artists’ colony in Gockhausen, as well as his plans, whose influence can still be felt today.
